Mission Statement:

The Springfield College Emergency Management Team (EMT) is dedicated to ensuring the safety, resilience, and preparedness of our campus community. Through proactive planning, comprehensive training, and coordinated response efforts, we aim to protect lives, minimize risk, and safeguard college operations during emergencies.

In our emergency management practices, we prioritize:

1. Collaboration: Partnering with students, faculty, staff, and external agencies to foster a culture of preparedness.
2. Communication: Providing timely and accurate information to support informed decision-making during crises.
3. Resilience: Implementing sustainable strategies to mitigate potential threats and ensure rapid recovery.

  • Meet the Emergency Management Team:

    The Emergency Management Team is managed by the Chair, Joseph P. Tiraboschi who is the Chief of Police and Executive Director of Public Safety.

  • Goals and Training in Keeping the Community Safe:

    Preparedness: Develop and maintain a comprehensive emergency operation plan tailored to various potential threats, ensuring the college is ready for any crisis.

    Prevention: Identify and mitigate risks through regular safety assessments, focusing on reducing vulnerabilities and enhancing campus security infrastructure.

    Response: Ensure a rapid, coordinated, and effective response to emergencies, minimizing impact and protecting lives and property.

    Recovery: Facilitate timely restoration of campus operations post-crisis, prioritizing the well-being of students, faculty, and staff.

    Community Engagement: Foster a culture of safety by educating and involving the campus community in emergency preparedness and resilience efforts.

    Emergency Tabletop Drills: Conduct scenario-based training sessions to test policies and procedures, ensuring all participants understand their roles and responsibilities. These exercises help refine our response strategies and enhance preparedness across the campus community.

    Safety Workshops: Offer training sessions on topics such as first aid, fire safety, and personal security to equip individuals with essential emergency skills.

    Collaboration with Local Agencies: Partner with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services to enhance coordinated response efforts and mutual aid agreements.
