: Threat Assessment Team (TAT)

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Threat Assessment Team is to determine if an individual poses or may reasonably pose a threat of violence to themselves, others, or the Springfield College community. The team intervenes to avert threats and maintain safety. The multidisciplinary team responds to concerning behaviors exhibited by students, employees, visitors, and non-affiliated persons before a critical incident occurs, with the goal of preventing violence and ensuring that Springfield College remains a safe working and learning environment.

    The Threat Assessment Team is managed by the Chair, Joseph P. Tiraboschi who is the Chief of Police and Executive Director of Public Safety.

  • Purpose of the TAT

    The Threat Assessment Team is dedicated to a proactive, coordinated and planned identification, prevention, assessment, management, and reduction of interpersonal and behavioral threats to the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff and visitors of Springfield College. Threat assessment is designed to be a preventative process used to identify warning signs and intervene before something preventable happen

    When warranted for individual cases, the Chair may request additional representatives from the School of Professional and Continuing Studies, the International Center, Learning Support Services, Athletics and/or other departments/offices.

    The Threat Assessment Team serves both students and employees and is charged with convening, assessing the situation at hand, and taking immediate preventative action when a threat of imminent danger exists. The Team has the full authority to act on an interim basis to respond to a report of a threat
