Update iOS/iPhone Mail After Password Change

How to update your iOS/iPhone or iPadOS password after a password change

After changing your college password, if your college email is configured on your Apple mobile device, you’ll need to update it to the new password. The following steps will guide you through the process. These screenshots are from iOS 26, but the instructions are similar for other iPad and iPhone operating system versions.

1. After changing your college password, you should see one or both of these messages when you check your email on your Apple mobile device, within 5 minutes to 1 hour. If you’ve configured Apple Calendar and Apple Notes, you might also see something similar in those apps. This message indicates that you need to change your college password on your Apple device.

2. Open device "Settings" and scroll down to "Apps" and click on it.

3. In "Apps" scroll down and find "Mail." Click on it.

4. In "Mail" click on "Mail Accounts."

5. Find the Springfield College email account in the list of accounts.  If unsure, click on each and see if it looks like the screenshot in the next step.

6. Click on "Re-enter Password."

7. You will be presented with the Springfield College single-sign-on login page.  This will be familiar looking to you.  Enter your username and follow the prompts.

8. After successfully authenticating, you will be asked to "Sign in to iOS," click "Continue."

9. On the next screen, click the “Select all” checkbox. Then, scroll down the page and click on the “Continue” button.

10. You’ll return to the account screen, but it won’t prompt you to “Re-enter Password.” Your password has been successfully updated.

11. Now Apple mail should be able to retrieve your Springfield College email once again.
